Q: What is SoftShield® Securemedia™?

A: SoftShield® Securemedia™ is high-end copy protection software that prevents end-users from copying your digital media content (text, images and audio visual) and enables you as the publisher to control the viewing rights of end-users on any PC anywhere, e.g. by user, expiry date or number of views.

Q: How does it work?

A: Package the media you wish to protect into a Microsoft® PowerPoint® (PPT) document. Our security engine converts this into a Securemedia™ format that looks and plays like a normal slide show, but content cannot be accesses, edited or copied.

Q: What protection options are available?

A: Securemedia DirectView offers the following capabilities:

(i) Copy Protection, i.e. no Printing, Print Screen, Edit functions or image or media capture using piracy software.
(ii) Viewing Rights Management – control viewing by number of uses, by expiry date or by time, e.g. 6 months lease.
(iii) Restrict sharing – secure media can be locked to a user’s PC or network using a digital activation key.

Q: What is Securemedia™ DirectView?

A: Securemedia™ DirectView is both a copy protection and a document rights management solution in one.

Q: When to use Securemedia™ DirectView?

A: If you want to switch off viewing rights at some point, e.g. by time or use limit. In this case you should use Secureview™DirectView, especially if you want to require users to pay you a fee to continue viewing the Securemedia™ files.

Q: When not to use Securemedia™ DirectView?

A: You should use Secureview™ DirectView when you want Securemedia™ files to be shared freely around a community, e.g. as part of a promotion or viral marketing campaign, but want to retain full copy protection for the source content.

Q: How can I distribute Securemedia™ files in DirectView? mode?

A: You can easily distribute SoftShield® Securemedia™ to others via CD, email, ftp or web sharing tools, e.g. www.box.net, in the confidence that all forms of copying are disabled. We send a complete package to you in a ZIP file format with all enabling software and instructions needed to play the material.

Q: Can Securemedia™ DirectView be locked to a PC or computer network?

A: Yes this is done using powerful licensing technology and the use of digital activation codes (18 digit numbers).

Q: What is the cost for buying digital activation keys (eKeys) for Securemedia™ DirectView documents?

A: The cost for the different models of Secureview™ DirectView keys is shown below:

Digital user keys -1 key per customer computer (unlimited files numbers controlled by one license)
Trial License Keys $2.99 each (to allow users to test out and try your material for a set period, e.g. up to 100 days or 100 uses maximum).
Full License Key $4.99 (full activation to control viewing rights for a maximum of 5 years if time limited or perpetual).
