Q: What is SoftShield® Secureview™?

A: SoftShield® Secureview™ is high-end copy protection software that prevents end-users from copying your digital media content (text, images and audio visual) and enables you as the publisher to control the viewing rights of end-users on any PC anywhere, e.g. by user, expiry date or number of views.

Q: How does it work?

A: Package the media you wish to protect into a Microsoft® PowerPoint® (PPT) document. Our security engine converts this into a Securemedia™ format that looks and plays like a normal slide show, but content cannot be accesses, edited or copied.

Q: What protection options are available?

A: Depending on the format you chose, three types of protection are available:

(i) Copy Protection, i.e. no Printing, Print Screen, Edit functions or image or media capture using piracy software.
(ii) Viewing Rights Management – control viewing by number of uses, by expiry date or by time, e.g. 6 months lease.
(iii) Restrict sharing – secure media can be locked to a user’s PC, network or unique USB key or open for sharing with others.

Q: What is Secureview™ KeyPro?

A: Secureview™ KeyPro provides the highest level of control to restrict sharing. Securemedia™ files in KeyPro mode require a uniquely coded hardware key to be plugged into the computer’s USB port for the media to play.

Q: When to use Secureview™ KeyPro?

A: You should use Secureview™ KeyPro when you want to switch off viewing rights to Securemedia™ files at some point, e.g. by time, use limit or number of licensed users in a corporate setting. You should use Secureview™ KeyPro , especially if you want to chare a 'per-use' or 'leasing fee' to end users for viewing your content.

Q: When not to use Secureview™ KeyPro?

A: You should not use Secureview™ KeyPro if you (a) do not want to ship a physical hardware key, (b) if you want to distribute and manage use rights fully online using our automated tools, or (c) you want to provide users with a demo period and the option to click a 'buy now' button and immediately collect payment. In this case you should enquire about Secureview™ SoftPro.

Q: How to distribute Securemedia™ files in KeyPro mode?

A: You can easily distribute Securemedia™ files to others via CD, email, ftp or web sharing tools, e.g. www.box.net, in the confidence that all forms of copying are disabled. We send a complete package to you in a ZIP file format with all enabling software and instructions needed to play the material. The physical hardware (USB) key needs to be shipped by mail.

Q: Which type of KeyPro keys to use?

A: There are three types of hardware key for Secureview™ KeyPro. These remotely programmable keys allow you to control the use of Securemedia™ files on any PC anywher in the world using different parameters:

(i) KeyPro Basic - this key controls use limits for individual users. For example you can program a key with 50 use credits that will allow your media to open and play 50 times before expiring.

(ii) KeyPro Time - this key controls time or use limits for individual users. For example you can program the key to control up to eight (x8) documents to be controlled by time and a further one hundred (x100) documents to be controlled using use limit settings. This will allow you specify either an expiry date or a use limit for a specific document.

(ii) KeyPro NetTime - this key controls viewing rights by time or use limits for multiple users in a network environment. For example you can program the key to control viewing rights so that a maximum of twenty users, e.g.licensed trainers can view material within a set use period on networked computers.
